The First 30

It's New Year's Eve and tomorrow is just a few hours away. I love the feeling of newness and hope that a new year brings, a fresh start of sorts. For my first 30 day resolution, I have decided to focus on my spirituality. There's nothing I want more than a deep knowing within myself that God is with me always. On an intellectual level I know this is true. On a relational level, I wonder more than I want.
I've asked myself many times how I can arrive at such an assurance and the only thing I keep coming back to is that I need to press in closer on a daily basis.
I know there are many ways to draw near to God maybe there's even a "best" way. For me though, I'm all about keeping it simple this new year, especially since I have a hard time sticking with things.
So I have decided that for the next 30 days I will spend 30 minutes each day reading the Bible through the lens of worship. My hope is that by the end of the 30 days, my assurance of His presence in my life will be greater than it is today and that my heart will be in a more surrendered place.
I came across a book/journal by Louie Giglio called '30 Day Worship Journey'. In it he provides a format to read scripture and worship God. I am intrigued and feel like it's a good place to start.
During the next 30 days, I will chronicle my journey through the Word. I probably won't blog every day but will definitely do so when I have 'wow' moments. I am hopeful about this first resolution and excited to see where I am at the end of my first 30 days. Let the worship journey begin...

  1. Great idea, Daniela! So funny, because I've been stuck on the "worship" thought for the past couple of days. Usually when we talk about worshiping God, we get in mind the song service at church, and what types of songs should be sung, who should be allowed to lead, all that political stuff. But I really want to do a study to see what GOD has asked when He talks about worship. When you give someone a gift, you usually try to give something that the recipient would like and has asked for, not something on YOUR wish list. So now you've motivated me to ask God how to worship Him better... HIS way! Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. Fawn, I would love to hear some of the insights you receive in this area...so please share as they come to you :) I can totally relate to the whole politics of worship. In the midst of all that nonsense, I realized that I didn't know how to worship and so My heart's prayer ever since has been, "Lord, teach me how to worship you that I may bless your heart."
